Weather and time
This camera looks straight down into a bald eagle nest in a sycamore on the Monongahela riverbank at the Irvin Plant in West Mifflin. The whole bowl of interlaced sticks fills the frame, with a pale trunk on the right and railway tracks in the corner.
West Mifflin is a borough southeast of Pittsburgh, and the steel plant stands on high ground above the river. A pair of bald eagles has nested on the wooded slope below its buildings since 2019. Like the other views of this nest, the feed runs under an educational permit from the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
Unlike the side views, this angle leaves the river out and shows the structure of the nest in detail, from the thick base sticks to the finer lining in the center. It is the closest look at the nest cup itself.
