Weather and time
A fixed camera at Johnstown Station in Pennsylvania looks west along a curving Norfolk Southern track toward industrial sheds and a wooded hill. Freight cars often stand on the far track.
Johnstown lies in the Conemaugh Valley in Cambria County and is remembered for the flood of 1889. The track here is Norfolk Southern's Pittsburgh Line, the former Pennsylvania Railroad main line between Harrisburg and Pittsburgh, at about milepost 275. Amtrak's Pennsylvanian, running between New York and Pittsburgh, calls at the Johnstown station.
The view does not move. Ballast and one curving track fill the foreground, with a puddle at the lower left and a low dark slab beside the rails. Further back stand a long low building with a row of windows, a pale tower-like building, blue-roofed sheds and a brick building on the green hill.
