Weather and time
This camera looks across a mowed hillside lawn and a line of grey boulders into the hardwood forest of Third Hill Mountain, West Virginia. Tall, straight trunks rise behind the rocks, and the ground beyond them falls away.
Third Hill Mountain is a long ridge in Berkeley County, in the Eastern Panhandle, and the highest mountain in the county. Its summit, High Knob, reaches about 660 metres (2,165 ft). The Tuscarora Trail follows the crest, and Martinsburg, the county seat, lies to the east beyond North Mountain.
The fixed camera faces east-southeast, towards North Mountain and Martinsburg. While the trees are in leaf, the canopy fills most of the frame and the row of rock slabs marks the edge of the forest floor. In autumn, yellow and orange leaves appear among the green crowns.
