Squirt the Painted Turtle, Chinn Park Library Live Cam

This camera looks into the glass tank of Squirt, a painted turtle that lives at Chinn Park Library in Woodbridge, Virginia. A flat rock sits at the water surface, above a gravel floor with seashells, dark driftwood and a column of air bubbles.

Chinn Park Library opened in 1991 as the first regional library built in Prince William County. It stands in Chinn Regional Park off Prince William Parkway, beside the Chinn Aquatics and Fitness Center. Both are named after Mary Jane Chinn, whose family bought land in the area after emancipation.

Squirt was rescued from a drained pond in Manassas and has been the library mascot for more than 20 years. He often climbs onto the rock to warm up under a heat lamp, or swims right past the lens. Library shelves and book displays show through the back glass.
