Weather and time
This camera looks down into the indoor river otter habitat at Calvert Marine Museum in Solomons, Maryland, from above one corner. A sunken water trough runs along the left wall, while a raised round bed, a steel food bowl and scattered toys sit on the pale concrete floor.
Solomons is a waterfront community in Calvert County at the mouth of the Patuxent River, close to Chesapeake Bay. The museum covers regional paleontology, estuarine life and the maritime history of these waters. Its grounds include the restored Drum Point Lighthouse.
Unlike the exhibit pool open to visitors, this is a behind-the-scenes room where the otters can rest or play when they are off exhibit. Glass partitions divide the space, with a second raised bed and a tub of toys behind them.
