St. Michaels Town Harbour Live Cam

St Michaels harbour opens onto the Miles River on the eastern shore of Chesapeake Bay, in Maryland in the United States. The camera looks over the moored boats and the maritime museum.

The white building on legs at the water's edge is a screwpile lighthouse, one of four left of the hundred or so that once stood in the bay on iron legs screwed into the mud. This one was floated here from Hooper Strait in 1966.

The town tells a story about the war of 1812: warned of a night bombardment, the residents are said to have hung lanterns in the trees above the houses so that the British gunners aimed high. Whether it happened is disputed; the town has been selling it for two centuries.
