Weather and time
A hilltop view over the treetops of Greenville Junction toward the southern end of Moosehead Lake in Maine. Houses and a white-steepled building sit among the forest in the foreground, with the lake and blue hills beyond.
Moosehead Lake is the largest lake in Maine, and Greenville at its southern tip is the main gateway to the surrounding woods. The camera looks down from Indian Hill, above Moosehead Lake Road, so the town roofs and the first islands of the lake fit into one wide frame. Hills line the horizon on both sides of the water.
The frame is fixed and the foreground is full of trees, so the scene changes mostly with the seasons. In early October the maples show orange, red and yellow, while in other months the same lake view looks green, bare or snow-covered. The water changes from deep blue on clear days to pale gray under overcast skies.
