Moosehead Lake, Maine Live Cam

The docks at Greenville lie below this webcam, at the southern end of Moosehead Lake in Maine, in the United States. Motorboats lie at the pier in the foreground, and the steamer Katahdin is tied up at the wharf on the right.

Moosehead is the largest lake in the state, forty miles long and surrounded by working forest. The Katahdin was built in 1914 and spent decades towing log booms across the lake; she now runs excursions and is the centrepiece of the marine museum here.

The lake freezes over in winter and the docks are pulled out. Rain and low cloud come down the lake regularly, closing the far shore entirely.
