Greenville Airport, Maine Live Cam

Snow covers the apron at Greenville Municipal Airport, at the southern end of Moosehead Lake in the north woods of Maine. The webcam is fed by the local cable company and carries a weather line across the bottom of the picture.

The town of about 1,400 people is the last supply point before the North Maine Woods, and the field handles floatplanes, freight and forestry work rather than airlines. Temperature, wind and pressure are burnt into the frame because pilots read the view.

Every September the international seaplane fly-in brings several hundred aircraft to the airport and to the float base on the lake, with landing contests and a parade through town. Moosehead is the largest lake in Maine, roughly fifty kilometres long.
