Weather and time
This camera looks north from Goro Sky Tower on Mount Gorogatake across Maizuru Bay, an inlet of Wakasa Bay in Kyoto Prefecture. A container wharf lies on the left, and wooded islands sit in the water towards the narrow mouth of the bay.
Mount Gorogatake is a 301-metre hill that divides Maizuru into its eastern and western halves. The 50-metre tower on its summit was built in 1995, and in a 1985 poll the view of the bay from this hill was ranked first among the Kinki 100 Views. The Y-shaped bay splits into the naval East Port and the West Port used for trade.
The wharf in the foreground is the Maizuru International Terminal, opened in 2010 and linked to the shore by a bridge. Beyond it the white chimney of a power station rises near the mouth of the bay, and houses of the city line the shore on the right.
