Weather and time
This camera watches the Akigawa River at Totohara in Akiruno, where the dark current runs beneath a blue road bridge. Brown timber-style fences line a paved riverside path in the foreground, and steep forested slopes rise behind the bridge.
Totohara lies in the Itsukaichi area, in the foothills of western Tokyo. Musashi-Itsukaichi Station, the end of the Itsukaichi Line, is about 300 m away, and the barbecue ground of Akigawa Bridge Riverside Park is a short walk from the camera. The Akigawa begins on Mount Mito in Hinohara village and flows east through Akiruno toward the Tama River.
The camera faces across the river toward the bridge, whose single concrete pier stands on a wide gravel bank. The paved path and fences along the near bank give a clear reference for how high the water sits against the gravel.
