Weather and time
This view runs down Via Saroch in the San Rocco district of Livigno to the painted facade and onion-domed bell tower of San Rocco Church. A hotel with wooden balconies stands on the right, and larch-covered mountains rise behind the rooftops.
San Rocco lies at the southern end of Livigno, in the province of Sondrio in Lombardy. Building began in 1592, in a time of plague, and the church was consecrated in 1624. The bell tower was added in the 1640s and got its copper onion dome in the 1720s. Saint Roch and Saint Sebastian are painted on the facade.
The camera looks south-southwest from a balcony above a junction, so the street leads straight to the church front, with a car park and chalet-style houses beside it. In the morning the sun lights the hotel front, while around midday the camera faces the sun and the facades fall into shade.
