Salastrains, St Moritz Live Cam

Salastrains is a beginners' slope and lift above St Moritz, in the Engadine valley in the Swiss canton of Grisons. The webcam looks across the piste at the mountains.

Winter tourism was invented in this village. In 1864 a hotelier bet four English summer guests that they would like the place in winter and would pay nothing if they did not; they stayed until March, and the season has existed ever since.

The valley has since taken two winter olympics, in 1928 and 1948, and the town sits at 1,800 metres with a lake that freezes hard enough to hold horse races on it.
