St. Moritz has ski and snowboard areas, cross-country ski trails, and hiking trails leading to peaks such as Piz Nair. On frozen Lake St. Moritz, polo, cricket, and horse racing are held. The town, at about 1,800 metres (5,910 feet), hosted the Winter Olympics in 1928 and 1948.
