Western Wall, Jerusalem, view 2 Live Cam

This camera looks down at the Western Wall from the northern edge of the plaza, close enough to read the stonework. Caper bushes grow straight out of the joints, and rows of white plastic chairs stand along the base of the stone.

The wall is the western retaining face of the Temple Mount, and the strip in view is the open-air prayer area beside it. People come with books from the shelves nearby, stand close to the stone, and leave folded notes pressed into the cracks. The emblem of the foundation that runs the site sits in the top corner of the picture.

Where the operator's wide camera shows the whole plaza, this one keeps the masonry itself in frame all day, so the changing light across the limestone is the thing to watch. Crowds build up before Shabbat and on festivals; at night the wall stays floodlit and the chairs empty out.
