Yardenit Baptism Site Live Cam

Steps and handrails lead down into the Jordan River at Yardenit, the baptismal site just south of the Sea of Galilee. The water runs slow and green here, with eucalyptus and reeds along both banks.

The site draws several hundred thousand pilgrims a year, most of them Christians who come to be baptised in the river associated with the baptism of Jesus. Changing rooms, white robes and a paved bank make the immersion possible in an organised way.

Yardenit is run by Kvutzat Kinneret, a kibbutz in the Northern District of Israel, at the point where the Jordan leaves the lake. The webcam covers the main immersion steps, which are busiest in the morning. The Golan Heights rise to the east, and the Galilee hills close the view upstream.
