The Snake River is the 13th longest river in the USA at 1,735 km and runs through Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. Its South Fork stretches about 64 miles through southeastern Idaho, passing through Bonneville, Bingham, and Jefferson counties.

The river supports a range of wildlife, including bald eagles, moose, and Yellowstone cutthroat trout, and is used for fly-fishing, boating, camping, and hiking. Its water is managed by federal, state, and local agencies, including the Bureau of Land Management, and is important for agriculture and hydropower, with ongoing conservation work in the area.
