Yosemite National Park, CA Live Cam

These cameras look out over Yosemite valley and the high country around it, in the Sierra Nevada of California. The views change between Half Dome, Glacier Point and the falls.

The valley was cut by ice. A glacier ground through an existing river gorge and left the vertical walls behind, which is why the granite faces rise a kilometre from a flat floor with almost nothing in between.

Some of the cameras were installed to measure air quality rather than scenery: haze from the Central Valley reaches the park, and the pictures are used to track how far it gets. The falls run hardest in May and are usually dry by August.
