Weather and time

A lined pond lies below the lift towers at McCoy Station, a mid-mountain stop on Mammoth Mountain above Mammoth Lakes, California. A ridge with a ski run cut through the pines rises behind it, and a dark red McCoy sign stands at the left edge of the frame.

McCoy Station belongs to the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area in the Sierra Nevada of Mono County. The upper section of the Panorama Gondola starts here and carries riders toward the summit area, and the slopes seen beyond the pond belong to the upper mountain.

The camera turns between several views of the station area. Besides the pond with the McCoy sign, it shows slopes with lift towers climbing to a building on the ridge, an outlook over the forested valley and distant peaks beside a building lettered Parallax Restaurant, and the lower lift terminals.
