Weather and time
This camera on Wisconsin Point in Superior, Wisconsin, looks across the Superior Entry toward the open water of Lake Superior. A white lighthouse with a red roof stands at the right of the frame on the end of the south breakwater.
Wisconsin Point is a long sandy spit that separates Lake Superior from the Superior Bay. The Superior Entry cut through it is one of the two openings that lake freighters use to reach the Twin Ports, the other being the Duluth Ship Canal. The lighthouse was first lit in 1913 and has stood on the breakwater since.
At the left of the frame a short pier with a navigation beacon marks the other side of the entry. Between the two the lake runs straight to the horizon. This fixed wide view looks at the harbor mouth, not at the bridges and docks inside the harbor shown by the neighboring cameras.
