Port of Narvik Live, Norway Cam

A bulk carrier lies at the quay in Narvik, with the snow line running along the fjord slopes behind the town. Tugs and floating pontoons occupy the near part of the harbour.

Narvik exists because of iron ore. The Ofoten railway brings it over the mountains from the Kiruna mines in Sweden, and the harbour here stays free of ice all winter, which the Baltic ports do not.

Cruise ships and general cargo use the same port, and the peaks above it carry the Narvikfjellet cable car. The feed is provided by Norway Live; this far north the picture is dark around the clock in December and lit through the night in June.
