Duluth Ship Canal Park Live Cam

The Aerial Lift Bridge stands over the canal into Duluth harbour, on Lake Superior in the state of Minnesota. The webcam looks across Canal Park at the bridge and the water.

Duluth is the furthest inland seaport on earth. Ocean ships reach it from the Atlantic through the St Lawrence Seaway, a journey of about 3,700 kilometres, and load grain, iron ore and coal at the head of the lakes.

The bridge lifts its whole deck rather than swinging, about once an hour through the season, and the schedule of expected ships is posted so people can time their arrival. The lake behind it holds a tenth of the world's fresh surface water.
