Aerial Lift Bridge, Duluth Live Cam

A close view of the Aerial Lift Bridge in Duluth, Minnesota, from a rooftop beside the ship canal in Canal Park. The steel towers and the span fill the frame, with a strip of canal water and the roof ledge in the foreground.

The bridge carries Lake Avenue over the Duluth Ship Canal, the channel between Lake Superior and the inner harbor of the Twin Ports of Duluth and Superior. It has marked the harbor entrance since the early twentieth century and is a landmark of the city. Canal Park, the district around it, has a pier, a lakewalk and a maritime museum.

The viewpoint is only a short distance from the span, so the frame is dominated by the bridge structure, and buildings across the harbor show through its steel framework. The view is fixed, which makes changes in light, weather and boat traffic in the canal easy to follow.
