Glensheen Boathouse Pier, Duluth Live Cam

The camera looks along a concrete pier on the shore of Lake Superior at the Glensheen estate in Duluth, Minnesota. A cobble beach runs along the left side of the pier, and open water fills the rest of the frame up to the horizon.

Glensheen is a historic lakeside estate of the Congdon family in the eastern part of Duluth, with a 39-room mansion beside London Road. The family boathouse stands at the water's edge about 100 metres from the mansion, and the pier runs from it south-east into the lake. Duluth lies at the western tip of Lake Superior.

This is a fixed view of one short stretch of shoreline, so the changes come from the lake itself. On calm days the water is smooth and deep blue, while in strong wind waves break on the cobbles and against the pier. In the evening, a string of bulbs on posts beside the pier lights up.
