Weather and time
The 730 crossing lies below this webcam in the town of Ishigaki, on Ishigaki Island in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. A shopping building stands on the far corner, and cars turn through the junction below the lens.
The junction takes its name from 30 July 1978, the day Okinawa switched from driving on the right to driving on the left, six years after the islands were returned from American to Japanese administration. A stone monument on the corner marks it.
Ishigaki is the main town of the Yaeyama islands, closer to Taiwan than to the Japanese mainland. Typhoons pass through here in late summer and shut the whole frame down for a day at a time.
