Weather and time

The camera watches the harbour channel of the Port of Le Havre from the waterfront by the MuMa museum. Across the water stand two tall chimneys, grain silos and the cranes of the port.

The Port of Le Havre was founded in 1517 by King Francis I and is one of the largest ports in France. The André Malraux Museum of Modern Art, MuMa, opened in 1961 in a glass and aluminium building at the entrance to the port, and it holds works by Boudin, Monet and Dufy. Henri-Georges Adam's huge sculpture Le Signal stands on its forecourt.

The camera changes direction, and the views differ a lot. One looks along the quay past a lawn and a car park towards the chimneys and cranes, and another faces across the water to a row of large white storage tanks on the far dyke, with a black and white mast at the edge. At night the lit quay and terminals stand out.
