Weather and time
This camera overlooks the beach at Langrune-sur-Mer, a seaside town on the Côte de Nacre in Calvados. Blue and white beach huts stand among the dune grass on the left, and the sea runs out to a flat horizon.
Langrune-sur-Mer lies about 17 km north of Caen. It was plain Langrune until 1957, when "sur-Mer" was added to stress its seaside character. Its 13th-century church of Saint-Martin is a listed monument, and in June 1944 the town was liberated by the 48th Royal Marines Commando. A local sailing club runs a school here all year round.
The camera changes direction over the day. One view follows the sand and the line of beach huts along the waterline, and another turns towards a concrete slipway where tall masts and inflatable boats are lined up beside the building at the right.
