Weather and time
This camera at the Lewes Yacht Club looks across the water at Roosevelt Inlet in Lewes, Delaware, toward piers on the opposite shore. Floating docks, smaller boats and a large white vessel line the far bank, while a dense band of trees rises behind them.
Roosevelt Inlet is the opening through which the Broadkill River and the Lewes and Rehoboth Canal reach Delaware Bay. The yacht club, whose history goes back to 1932, stands on the corner where the inlet, the canal and Lewes Beach meet. Lewes grew from a Dutch trading post founded in 1631 and calls itself the first town in the first state.
The camera does not move and is zoomed toward the far bank, so the piers and the vessels tied up along them fill the left side of the frame. To the right, open water stretches toward a low, grassy shoreline backed by woods.
