Mispillion Harbor is home to birds, fish and other animal species. Horseshoe crabs are an important food source for shorebirds, including the Red Knot, and the area is a food stop and resting area on the Red Knot migration route from South America to the Arctic. The DuPont Nature Center has exhibits about the natural history and ecology of Delaware Bay.
