Weather and time
This camera looks straight down into an osprey nest on a tall platform in Cape Henlopen State Park, near Lewes on the Delaware coast. The square wooden box is filled with sticks, dry grass and pine cones, and a mown lawn spreads out far below it.
The park lies on the cape at the mouth of Delaware Bay, with ocean and bay beaches, high dunes and pine woods. The current tower and nesting platform were installed in spring 2023 and stand about 45 feet above the ground. A T-shaped perch on one side gives the adult birds a place to land.
From above, the camera shows the whole nest cup, so eggs and chicks can be followed closely in the breeding season. In 2026 a pair of ospreys nested here and hatched a chick. In autumn and winter, after the birds migrate south, the platform usually stands empty.
