Weather and time
This camera looks southwest along the seawall of the Blockhouse Island pier in Brockville, Ontario, with the Saint Lawrence River on the left. A paved walkway with lamp posts and benches runs past a wide lawn and tall trees to picnic tables at the far end.
Blockhouse Island lies at the foot of downtown Brockville, near the eastern end of the Thousand Islands. It is named after a log blockhouse built in 1839 to guard the town against raids from across the river. In 1860 rock fill joined it to the shore for a railway terminus, and the old railway grounds later became a park.
The camera stands at the landward end of the pier, so the wall and walkway lead straight away from it along the water. Through the trees on the right, a railing marks the far side of the pier on Tunnel Bay, and open river stretches left to a wooded shore.
