Weather and time
This camera looks southeast from the back of Brockville City Hall over the waterfront, the municipal harbour and the Saint Lawrence River. Treetops and a round fountain fill the foreground, and flagpoles stand on a lawn across the street.
City Hall was built between 1863 and 1864 as Victoria Hall, partly over the south end of the Brockville Railway Tunnel. Opened in 1860 as the first railway tunnel in Canada, it runs about 530 metres under downtown, and its south portal opens onto the waterfront just south of Water Street. Since 2017 visitors can walk its whole length.
From high on the rear of the building, the view crosses Water Street to the curving road onto Blockhouse Island. Rows of docks fill the right side, with boats moored along the wooded island beyond, while open river stretches left toward a low far shore.
