Weather and time
Rosie's Pan is a round waterhole in Balule Nature Reserve, Limpopo, seen from a raised camera above its shore. Bushveld slopes with scattered trees and sandy tracks rise behind the water towards a hill on the horizon.
Balule is one of the private reserves on the western side of Kruger National Park, with no fences between them and the park. Rosie’s Pan is one of several waterholes watched from Naledi Game Lodge, together with Naledi Dam and the Cat Eye pan. In the dry winter months such waterholes hold some of the last standing water in the bushveld.
The camera looks down on the pan, so the full water surface, its muddy shore and the tracks leading to it are visible at once. The view stays fixed through the day; only light, sky and reflections change. It is more elevated than the ground-level Cat Eye pan at the same lodge.
