Thermiekbel Terlet Airfield, NL Live Cam

Terlet is a gliding field on the heath north of Arnhem, in the province of Gelderland in the Netherlands. The camera looks over the restaurant terrace and the strip.

The site has been used since the 1930s and is the national gliding centre. Dry sandy ground heats fast and throws up thermals over the Veluwe, which is why a country as flat as this one has a serious soaring tradition at all.

Gliders launch here by winch and by tug and work the lift for hours in good conditions. The airborne landings of 1944 came down a few kilometres from this field.
