Cape Porpoise, Maine Live Cam

Cape Porpoise Harbor opens out below this view at Kennebunkport, on the coast of Maine in the United States. Lobster boats swing at their moorings in the tidal basin, and a working pier stands on the right of the frame.

The harbour holds about 120 moorings, most of them used by commercial fishermen rather than pleasure craft, and it is sheltered by a line of low islands. Goat Island, with its lighthouse, closes the entrance; the village behind the pier is a separate settlement from Kennebunkport itself.

The tide moves several metres here, so the boats swing round and the mudflats appear and disappear twice a day. The stream comes from the lobster company on the pier.
