Barn Owl Nest Box, Amersfoort Zoo Live Cam

A camera inside a barn owl nest box on the Kwetterterp, a raised area devoted to Dutch birds at Amersfoort Zoo in Utrecht province. The black-and-white picture shows a narrow entrance passage and a larger nesting chamber floored with wood shavings.

On the Kwetterterp, visitors learn about birds that live wild in the Netherlands. Barn owls have been spotted here before: owl pellets were found there and one bird was photographed. The box was installed in the hope that a pair will settle and breed.

Unlike the tiger cameras, this view is entirely indoors, so it looks much the same by day and by night. A wooden partition separates the entrance from the nesting space, and while the box stands empty only the bare chambers are visible.
