Weather and time
Rooftops of central Himi run down to Toyama Bay, with the fishing port breakwater and the wooded Karashima islet in the distance. Dark tiled roofs fill the foreground, a seaside road follows the shore on the right, and open water reaches the horizon.
Himi lies on the western shore of Toyama Bay at the base of the Noto Peninsula. Its harbour relies on set nets anchored a few kilometres offshore, and in winter it lands yellowtail sold as Himi kanburi, a regional brand for fish over six kilograms caught in the bay and auctioned here.
The camera is fixed above the houses south of the harbour and looks north along the coast. Beyond the breakwater, the forested hills of northern Himi run towards the Noto Peninsula, while small boats occasionally cross the open bay on the right.
