Showamachi, Takaoka Live Cam

This camera looks along Showa-dori in the Showamachi district of Takaoka, towards its junction with National Route 8 and the hills beyond. Coin laundry signs and low shops line the left side of the wide road, while a large car park and big-box stores fill the right.

Takaoka is the second-largest city in Toyama Prefecture. National Route 8, which links Niigata with Kyoto along the Sea of Japan coast, crosses the city from east to west. Showamachi lies north-west of Takaoka Station on Prefectural Route 64, the road to the coastal city of Himi.

From high above the pavement, the view follows the lanes past a pedestrian crossing and several traffic lights, with an electronics store and a supermarket further along on the right. Wooded hills close off the view on the horizon.
