Shimizumachi Intersection, Takaoka Live Cam

This camera looks down on the Shimizumachi intersection in Takaoka, where National Route 156 crosses a local road west of Takaoka Station. Pedestrian crossings run along all four sides of the junction, and lines of cars wait on the approaches for the signals to change.

Route 156 is the main road south from Takaoka towards Tonami, continuing through the mountains to Gifu past the World Heritage villages of Gokayama and Shirakawa-go. Northwards it leads through the city towards the port of Fushiki. Zuiryuji, a Zen temple whose main halls are National Treasures, stands less than a kilometre away.

At the upper left the highway leaves the crossing towards Fushiki, and at the upper right the road heads to the south side of the station. The approaches from Kizu and Tonami fill the foreground, so all four arms of the junction are in view.
