Hirokoji, Takaoka Live Cam

This camera looks along National Route 156 at Hirokoji in central Takaoka, where Manyosen tram tracks run down the middle of the road. Office buildings, parking lots and a tram stop platform line the wide street as it heads north towards the next junction.

Takaoka grew from a castle town founded by Maeda Toshinaga in 1609 and is known for bronze and copper casting. The Manyosen line runs about 13 kilometres from Takaoka Station to Koshinokata in Imizu, and one of its trams is decorated with Doraemon, whose creator Fujiko F. Fujio was born in the city.

From above the street the view follows the double track past the tram platform to the traffic lights beyond, with striped markings separating the rails from the traffic lanes.
