Central Wajima, Noto Peninsula Live Cam

Tiled and metal roofs of central Wajima spread towards a line of wooded hills in this elevated view over the town on the Noto Peninsula. Narrow streets, a small crossroads and a few taller blocks break up the rows of low houses in the foreground.

Wajima lies on the northern coast of the Noto Peninsula, facing the Sea of Japan. The town is known for Wajima-nuri lacquerware, built up in many coats, and for its centuries-old morning market. The Noto Peninsula earthquake of 1 January 2024 caused heavy damage here, and a fire after the quake destroyed much of the market street.

The camera faces away from the sea, so the harbour stays out of frame and the hills around Wajima form the horizon. Below the lens, a two-lane street runs between houses with dark glazed tiles.
