Ishikawa Prefecture is an administrative division of Japan, situated on the Sea of Japan coast of the main island of Honshu.The region, in central Honshu, comprises Noto Peninsula featuring low mountains, high cliffs on the northern shore, and famous health resorts such as Wakura Onsen, taking advantage of the abundant hot springs (onsen).
The capital is the seaside city of Kanazawa, famous for the tea houses in Higashi Chaya District from the Edo period (last feudal military government from 1603 to 1868), and for the Kenroku-en, one of the “Three Great Gardens of Japan”, designed to be beautiful in all seasons, and thus open year-round. Around Kanazawa Port, lies the city centre of this capital surrounded by the mountains of Hakusan National Park and the Japanese Alps. Population: over 1.6 million inhabitants
