Nesting Shrubs, Novy Vrbensky Pond Live Cam

This close-up shows a dense thicket of shrubs beside the water of Novy Vrbensky Pond in Ceske Budejovice. The corner caption Hnizdo2, Czech for nest 2, hints at the purpose of the view.

The camera stands on an island in the middle of the pond, part of the Vrbenske ponds nature reserve in Ceske Vrbne. The reserve also includes the Cernis, Domin and Stary Vrbensky ponds and is popular with birdwatchers.

Unlike the wide pond view from the same island, this frame is tight and fixed. It is filled with a tangle of thin branches and twigs, with the water showing only along the top edge, so the shot reads as a study of the shrubs where birds may nest.
