Vinohrady and Žižkov Tower, Prague Live Cam

This high rooftop view from the Želivského crossroads looks west over Vinohrady towards the Žižkov Television Tower in Prague. Vinohradská Street with its tram tracks runs off beside the trees of Olšany Cemetery, and a chequered office block stands just below the camera.

Vinohrady takes its name from the vineyards that covered this area from the 14th century. Today it spreads across parts of the Prague 2, 3 and 10 districts. The 216-metre television tower in neighbouring Žižkov was built between 1985 and 1992 to a design by the architect Václav Aulický.

The camera is mounted among the aerials on the roof of Palác Vinohrady, a 1971 office high-rise at the corner of Vinohradská and Jana Želivského streets. Its wide lens takes in the western skyline from the Vinohrady roofs on the left to the cemetery canopy on the right.
