Písek from Jarník Lookout Tower Live Cam

The view looks west from the Jarník lookout tower in the Písek Mountains, across the treetops to the town of Písek in South Bohemia. Dense forest fills the foreground, and the roofs of the town spread out in the middle distance below a line of low hills.

The steel lattice tower opened in 1997 on Jarník hill, some 3 km east of the town centre, and its viewing platform sits 34.6 metres above the ground. The Písek Mountains around it are a wooded ridge of mixed forest that runs south-east from the edge of the town, and most of these woods belong to Písek.

Rather than a single street or square, the camera takes in the whole town from the heights to the east. In autumn the broadleaf crowns turn russet and gold among the dark spruces, and on October evenings the sun sets over the horizon in view.
