This view looks from the sandy northern tip of Plum Island across the broad Merrimack River channel to the far shore. Beach fencing and a rope line mark the dunes in the foreground, while a low, pine-covered bank stretches along the horizon.

Plum Island is a long barrier island on the Massachusetts coast. Its northern end, known as Plum Island Point, lies where the Merrimack River meets the Atlantic, and the harbor lighthouse stands close by on the river side. Most of the island to the south belongs to the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge.

This angle faces north across the river rather than toward the sea, so the open ocean and the stone jetties are not in frame. A white water tower stands out on the right of the far shore. The neighboring river-mouth camera points toward the ocean entrance instead.
