Weather and time
This camera looks east from the beach at Plum Island Point toward the open Atlantic where the Merrimack River reaches the sea. A long stone jetty curves in on the right, and a second, lower breakwater with a marker lies far to the left.
The Merrimack River drains much of New Hampshire and northeastern Massachusetts before it reaches the Gulf of Maine between Plum Island and the Salisbury shore. Stone jetties line the entrance and help hold the navigation channel in place. The camera stands on the narrow sandy tip of the island.
Unlike the neighboring Plum Island Point view, which looks north across the river, this angle faces the entrance and the horizon. Waves breaking at the foot of the right-hand jetty are the main thing to watch, with beach fencing along the lower edge.
