Harbor Island sits at the head of the commercial fishing basin in Ocean City, Maryland, in the United States. Sport-fishing boats with tuna towers lie along the docks, with waterfront condominiums behind them.

The fleet works the canyons offshore, seventy miles or more out at the edge of the continental shelf. Boats leave before dawn and come back in the afternoon, which gives the picture two busy periods and a long quiet middle.

Every August the basin fills for the White Marlin Open, the largest billfish tournament anywhere by prize money, with purses that have passed ten million dollars. The fuel dock at the edge of the webcam picture is the last stop before the inlet.
