Deer Pantry Pond, Brownville Live Cam

A pond ringed by mixed woods lies at the heart of this view of a family-run deer feeding property on Rips Road in Brownville, Maine. Birdhouses on posts line the far bank, and bird feeders stand beside a mowed field in front.

Brownville is a small town in Piscataquis County, central Maine, on the Pleasant River. From mid-December to early April, oats are put out here each morning for wild white-tailed deer, which can number more than a hundred at a time. Wild turkeys share the feed, and in autumn Canada geese graze along the shore.

The pan-tilt-zoom camera moves between the full sweep of the pond, the far bank with a small floating dock, and close shots of geese at the water's edge. On calm days the woods are mirrored in the water.
