Renesse Centre, Zeeland Live Cam

Renesse is a village on Schouwen-Duiveland, one of the islands of Zeeland in the south-west of the Netherlands. The webcam looks along the shopping street in the centre.

The island was among the worst hit in the flood of February 1953, when a storm surge broke the dykes across the delta at night and drowned more than eighteen hundred people in the province.

Everything built here since is a consequence of that: the Delta Works closed the sea arms one by one, the last of them a storm surge barrier finished in 1986, and the islands went from isolated to an hour from Rotterdam.
